Google TV: the future of television
In this opinion article we will discuss a new venture, Google TV, the future of television.

On May 20, 2010 Google announced a partnership with Intel, Sony and Logitech, three of the largest companies in the technology sector, for a new ambitious project: Google TV.
Google TV will be a platform to link the TV to the Internet, not only the web pages (some current models of Sony Bravia already do) but also applications like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, online TV channels, radios, etc..

In recent years some companies like Sony have been devoted to investigate the connectivity between TV and internet access, but the poor and limited Internet access has resulted in a change of focus and an alliance that at least shows they're serious.
Sources with the New York Times, Google wants Android to follow the model that has worked so well, to create alliances with technology partners to perform at its Google TV project. The idea is simple, explains in a nutshell: take the Internet on the living room, on TV. This involves the creation and development of new televisions and able to develop new skills. We then clear the alliance with Sony, well-respected brand in the TV industry, as with Logitech, maker of multiple devices. For the creation of the brain that operate the platform is Intel, one of the largest producers of chips in the world.
We can move as the platform would have these details:
- TV + search engine: finally! A search engine like Google on TV and online. The important thing is to see how they develop the form and usability of this browser. The idea is to find such a channel through Google and click and be seen on TV.
- Web complete with android + Chrome + Flash: As we have said Google TV will take a browser, this will be like no Google Chrome, and we can announce it will support Flash 10.1, this means that you can view websites as Youtube content fully integrated into the TV.
- Remote control again: what type of remote control would you use? This preguanta is in the air. It is believed that the current TV remote control will disappear and you can manage devices such as mobile or universal remotes (to be determined what that means). It assumes that the control protocol is open Google TV, which may develop.
- Youtube Leanback (see info here: http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/20/youchannel-youtube-leanback/ ): This product is an algorithm that automatically detects the user's tastes and habits on YouTube and automatically displays videos that the algorithm assumes that you might like.
- Shop online for TV application: Like Apple Store, Google TV has a shop with installable applications for the TV.
The main problem is that the market for Internet on TV is nothing new and there are a handful of players like Microsoft, Apple, TiVo and other companies such as Cisco or their own televisions like Sony that already incorporate Internet. Hence the importance of the alliance Intel-Google-Sony-Logitech. Another problem may be the bandwidth of the country, in our case Spain leaves much to be desired or improved so that these devices much or little will be done. Another drawback may be the high price of the product, see if the "holy alliance" are able to create a platform at a reasonable price.
We can take another step forward in this article is that Logitech has officially announced the creation of a device set-top-box Logitech Revue called that come with integrated Google TV platform, and will offer all the features of that technology to connect the device to TV and enjoy.

No details or the price or release date, we have clear is that the project is underway and there is no turning back, we'll see what we discussed in an article above is true, in times of crisis technological breakthroughs .
